It's Done!

Finally! I've got the novella, Yuletide Enchantment which is part of the Highlander Christmas anthology finished. Tomorrow is the actual deadline, and I'll spend today and tomorrow puttering away, layering, editing and just tinkering with it. I like writing novellas they teach you how to write 'tight'. You have to get characterization, plot, emotion, sex in such a short word count. In this instance, just 25k words!

This novella was a challenge, not only because of the word count but because I had to introduce the Annwyn world in a historical context. When readers see Annwyn in Velvet Haven it's during the Dark Times and a contemporary setting. So, I had to balance it all. Bran is in there, he's the hero of Velvet Haven. We also learn about his Legacy Curse, and of course, we read about Daegan (the hero of the story and Bran's uncle) and his love for a mortal. Readers will also learn why the Dark Times have come. And they will get to meet Cailleach, the Supreme Goddess who is realy the Head Bitch in Charge. But she's not always bitchy! lol!
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it and how it introduces Annwyn. I'm also thrilled that I was able to describe and show a couple of rites that make Annwyn unique. You'll be seeing more of those in The Annwyn Chronicles.

Phew! Another deadline met! After I turn this puppy in tomorrow, I'll be taking a day or two off to read and clean my house, and then it's full steam ahead on Velvet Haven for the month of April! Wish me luck, Bran is a handful!!!

The Dark Side of the Muse

So, this has been a busy week. Between writing, researching and trolling for pics for inspiration, I've been tapped out!

I finished the first draft of Sinful (charlotte Featherstone) and I made a big dent in A Highlander Christmas. Which I'm thrilled about.

I got to see the back cover copy of Velvet Haven, and I'm so exicted about it! It sounds great! I understand that cover art could be coming soon! YEAH!! I'm looking forward to sharing that with readers. I hope it's nice and sexy, because Bran, the hero, is a really sexy guy. You get a glimpse of him as well in A Highlander Christmas.

I sent away for some promo stuff for Hot In Here (as soon as it arrives, I'll let you guys know)and I've planned a few things for its launch.

Also, I'm happy with my plotting progress on Velvet Haven and the whole Annwyn world. As you guys know, I've been deep into this dark sex magic stuff and have been coming up with all kinds of ideas for it. I found this pic on another loop and as soon as I saw it, inspiration of the dark and sexy kind came to mind! So, I wrote the scene. Can't tell you about what character, but wow, I loved it!!! Very inspiring this dark stuff! What do you think? Inspiring pic? I love the pants! lol!

Thank God It's Friday!!!

Well, I'm back from my vacation. It was fun, exhausting but fun. I got a few strange looks from people as I was sitting on my lounge chair reading, "Nocturnicon~Calling Dark Forces and Powers" lol! I'm not sure if was the cover (black with skeletons) or the title, or the first line of the back cover...'YOUR GUIDE TO THE DARK SIDE'

Darkness...demons..drugs...death...life...love...sex..magick

I just ignored the raise brows and stares. I gotta tell you, the chapter on sex magic was utterly mesermizing. All I kept thinking about was I gotta find a way to incoporate this into the Annwyn Chronicles! lol!

So, it's Friday, the end of the week and the beginning of my writing weekend. The world of Annwyn beckons, and the creative font has been (partially) filled!

Spring Fever!

It's here, Spring Fever! The weather is gorgeous, the windows are cracked open letting in some much needed fresh air, and my family and I are taking off for a few days of vacation. It's March Break here for the school kids, so we're taking the kidlet to an indoor waterpark and for some shopping. I'm looking forward to a little R&R and to restore the creative well.

So, this is just a little something to keep you guys going this week. Should induce a little 'spring fever' in you! It did for me! This was the inspiration for Bryce, my sexy chef, who likes to work in his kitchen wearing faded jeans and a buff six pack!!! Enjoy!

Latest Acquisition

Well, I know I'm supposed to be writing, and I am, but mostly I'm researching. I found a couple of really neat research books on the Druids and another about death/sex dark magic. I'm seriously excited to get into that one! But I came across this author Stephanie Hecht on my travels and her book Archangels looks like one of my kind of reads. I LURVE fallen angels. I have a fixation with them. So, when I saw this book, I immediately snatched it up!

Entering Annwyn

Well, so much for keeping this blog updated! lol! I've been in deadline hell, and I'm just coming up for some much needed air.

Thought I'd share a few inspiring pics with you that I'm using for Annwyn, and Velvet Haven.

The hottie in a kilt is just makes me smile! I love the boots with it! HAWT! I like the image for Prince Dagaen from A Highlander Christmas. That novella, while historical, is an introduction into the whole Annwyn world. Pretty much this image is Daegan, kilt wearing hottie. Mmmmmm!

Now Velvet Haven proves to be writing pretty good. I'm at an interesting part, introducing a new character who can go either way in the good vs evil paradox. He's a Destroyer, for both the mortal realm and Annwyn. BUT, he could be the savior as well. All I know is he's dark, very, very tortured and I'm loving writing him. I hope readers love him too! These pics were the inspiration for the Destroyer and his necromancy skills! Gotta love that dark magic. Oh,and it's the sex and death kind of dark magic. Having LOTS of fun exploring that.
