And the winner of the TBR is.....

Joey W. Hill!!!!!!!

I agonized all night about what I was going to pick from morbidly obese TBR pile. Did I want a historical or a dark paranormal? Did I want sexy or emotional? I felt like romance, that I knew for certain. So, I went with Joey Hill, an author who writes hot and emotional. I'm totally digging her mermaid and angel stuff (you know me, I gotta thang for angels!) so I decided to do a re-read of A Mermaid's Kiss. I thoroughly enjoyed it the first go around, but I felt like I rushed because I knew I had deadlines looming. So, first the re-read of Kiss, and then on to A Witch's Beauty. REALLY looking forward to that. I've already got A Mermaid's Ransom on my wishlist. Can't for that. I think it comes out at the end of the year.

So, the coffee pot is on, hubby is back at work after coming home for lunch, and I don't have to pick the kidlet up from school for hours yet....sounds like Heaven to me.

What's everyone reading now?

  1. Everytime I see that mermaid cover I think of VFG telling me that I can't handle the pixie's, lol! She cracks me up :D

As for me, once I finish my current read, I'm going to start Passion by Lisa Valdez. According to VFG it's a smokin' hot story, we shall see...

    Enjoy, Sophie!! You deserve it!!

  2. OH, an adventurous girl like you can totally handle the pixie's! lol! Hill is such a lovely writer, very beautiful and lyrical. Just for that alone I know you'd love her.

Enjoy Passion. I have it in my TBR, just crying to be read. I'll get it one of these days!

  3. Ah ha! This is the Hill novel you're reading. :)(read comment at Charlotte's place) Or re-reading I should say. I really enjoyed 'A Mermaid's Kiss' too but I don't think I could do a re-read so soon after the first round. Talk about emotional! I'm still in the process of psyching myself up for 'A Witch's Beauty'. Which I hear is even more emotional than AMK! Aw, the humanity!!

Oh Barbara is reading 'Passion' *sigh* soooooo good! And she's right, it is smokin' hot! Sensual really and just...beautiful. I don't know how else to describe it. 'Passion' is beautiful. Read it Sophie as soon as you get a chance.

    :) VFG

  4. I'll definitely get Passion. I wonder when she'll get to Patience? I do understand how reader expectation can get to an author. I have that for Sinful. Luckily only one hate mail for Addicted, and my husband set straight about tossing it out and re-reading all the glowing mail I've gotten. Worked like a charm.

So far, I'm loving Mermaid's kiss. AGAIN! And I am getting more out of it this time, especially the emotions.

  5. Awww, what a sweet hubby! I feel so bad for Valdez. She really must have taken a hit with hate mail. I admit that her historical isn't typical of the genre but the novel seriously ranks up there with my top five books ever. I don't understand some people. If you don't like the book, stop reading it. And why do they feel it's imperative to express they're dislike to the author? And in a hateful manner to boot?!? Just is beyond my comprehension.

Valdez recently stated on her website that 'Patience' is almost complete. The title is just so ironic in this whole thing, don't you think? :)

My heart goes out to her.

  6. Ah, the Valdez chat...I get so irked with it. I hope she writes Patience. You know, like my grandma used to say, If you ain't got nothing nice to say--zip it. I feel so bad for that woman.

Good for your husband, Charlotte!! Listen, don't you even think twice about that mail, VFG and I are cheering all the way for Wallingford! Addicted rocked!!
